Carson's Cornhole

Ben Carson has surged ahead of Donald Trump in Iowa in a recent round of polls. Huckabee, Santorum, Bachmann and Cain all surged in Iowa. Santorum and Huckabee won, remember the triumphant presidencies of all of those people?

Carson will probably be in the top three on the day of the Iowa Caucuses, he might even win it but he'll win nothing else. Carson is constitutionally qualified to run for President but he is not fit to serve in the position. He is willfully ignorant and displays it every time he opens his mouth.

He is also not refreshingly honest as some commentators have stumbled to find polite words to describe some of his answers. This was particularly notable when he was recently asked as President what preparations he would be taking to address the coming hurricanes? His answer was "I don't know." That's not refreshing, it's scary. Even if he didn't know the answer he should have been quick enough to say "everything possible to help those affected." It would be nice if he new to coordinate with FEMA and the Governors of the States under imminent threat.

Carson is oblivious to what is going on in the daily news cycle and clearly doesn't care about being informed. For instance, his statements about everyone rushing a gunman, in fact blaming the victims in Oregon for their fate. When he was asked if he knew who Chris Mintz was he said no. Mintz was the veteran who bravely barred the door against the gunman and was shot seven times. Carson's response was "see that proves my point". No Ben it doesn't prove your point but it shows you have zero interest in researching the facts and knowing what you're talking about.

Even the primary voters of the Republican Party will not back this intellectually disinterested buffoon when they walk into the voting booth. They may say yes in polling questions but when it's time to shit or get off the pot they won't be able to vote for him because there is absolutely no way he could win a general election. I will go further and say that the eventual nominee would be quite foolish to consider Carson for V.P. or indeed any cabinet position.

The sooner this man returns to being overpaid for his lectures and lovingly embraced by the politically insane the better off our Republic will be.

The Day After

Well, how you doing today. Feeling nauseous? Feeling giddy with joy? Feeling like the Republic is now under the control of a Sith Lord? Feeling like the saviour of the nation has arrived? I guess it all depends on where you stand. I said in this little forum from the very beginning that Donald Trump could get the Republican nomination and go on to win the Presidency. I was hopeful that he wouldn't but never delusional that he couldn't. Forget about the polls which got it wrong and forget about the professional pundits who got it wrong and are still getting it wrong in their analysis. Trump won in the Electoral College because of rural America turning out in large numbers. As I write this Hillary Clinton still has over 200,000 more votes than Donald Trump and that number will likely grow by the time the count is complete.
