Milo and Me

Milo Yiannopoulos, now that's a mouthful. That's not an oral sex joke. Okay, it was an oral sex joke, aren't I outrageous? No? You're right of course, I'm very boring compared to Milo. Like Cher or Prince, you only need to say one name, Milo. I freely and proudly admit that up until about a year and a half ago I really didn't know who Milo was. His name and contribution to public dialogue was on my periphery. So I did a little research to see what all the chatter was about. A young gay guy from Britain with Greek heritage who's political opinions are slightly to the right of Attila the Hung, I mean Hun. That phrase to the right of Attila the Hun, is that really accurate, I can't see how. Milo is a self described provocateur and champion of free speech. He debated Boy George on British Television over gay marriage. Milo was opposed at that time and yes he was an out gay man. At the time he wrote for a Catholic newspaper, yeah I know, go with it. He did s

Say It Isn't So

Instantaneously known among pipe smokers throughout the world by their company logo of the majestic Blue Whale, McClelland Tobacco of Missouri is going out of business. Founded in 1977 as a boutique manafacturer dedicated to high quality production, they quickly found their place in the market and gave the big companies a run for their money. Their Virginias became synonymous with the best of the best. A few months ago their popular 5100 blend suddenly disappeared from the market leading to endless rumors in the internet's pipe forums. Given McClelland's reputation for never using substandard tobacco I simply viewed it as an interruption and if necessary they would eliminate it and recraft other blends using that base tobacco. Then multiple blends began selling out, this I and others put down to the hoarders who frequently overreact. By the way, if you can afford to overreact I don't blame you, if I could I would. It turns out the hoarders were right. Although no formal a

Love of Craft?

Money can't buy happiness. One of the many comforting lies recited by the masses. The world is full of such sayings, rooted mostly in religious platitudes to help you feel better about your troubles and to remember that collection plate. Are you comforted? Happy is a subjective term. What is it that dominates most of our thoughts? How will we pay the rent, utilities, car maintenance and food, not to mention what happens if you get sick? If you define happiness as having food, shelter and medicine, then yes, money can buy happiness. Just a couple of posts back I said fare-thee-well, I was done giving away my talent, such as it is. I knew as I wrote it that it wouldn't last, I was already formulating a breakaway political blog and pondering what I would write here. The simple definition of success is setting a goal, doing your best to achieve it and no matter the result success has been achieved. By that standard I have had many successes. But you can't eat it and it won

We Have Lift Off

The new blog on politics has launched. There is still some tweaking to be done but that will occur over time. It is called Political Eclipse and you can find it here: www.politicaleclipse.blogspot.com You will need to go there if you wish to subscribe by e-mail. Remember to keep subscribed to Kane's Realm for a potpourri of topics that interest me and possibly you!

What's That?

The response has just been incredible and I am so grateful for the support. Why anyone would bother to go to the herculean task of actually pushing a button to unsubscribe from something is hard to fathom in this era of non commitment, unless it's from your favorite porn sites. So, before you push that button, remember what I wrote about sequels. Kane's Realm will return but without politics. What will it be? Whatever I want.  My sentiments remain, I'm tired of giving away my talent but you shouldn't be deprived of the awesomeness that is me. You each owe me $1,000.00 per year but don't worry, your I.O.U. is good with me. A new political space is in development and for very good reason, it can't remain here under this name, it must have separate branding. When will all this happen? I dunno. Keep alert!

Fare-thee-well

If you've been playing the home edition of my little game here, you're pretty much up to date on many of my political opinions, not to mention the god thing. I've been plowing the blogging field for eleven years, with kanesrealm there are close to 400 commentaries provided for your pleasure or nausea. It has been my comfort and a frustration that now needs to be squashed. I've often mused about what happens to bloggers when they simply disappear? Did they die? Did they get bored? Did they wise up? I've taken a couple of breaks and let my readers know when I was doing it. A blog is a snapshot in time, the poster's synaptic firestorm, however disjointed or blathering it may be, it is a story of sorts and when the end has come, it should be said. A dragon and a few knights would make the ending more gratifying but that's not here. Mind you, it doesn't mean there can't be a sequel. Clearly I'm not dead... yet, otherwise I wouldn't be writing t

In Defense of Facebook (Sort Of)

Anyone that regularly reads this blog knows that I have luke warm feelings about social media in general, particularly Facebook. We now know because of pressure from Special Counsel Robert Mueller that Mark Zuckerberg and his executives stonewalled and outright lied that they didn't know that false stories dressed up as news were being circulated on their platform during the 2016 U.S. Presidential campaign and that a fair amount was immenating from Russia and it's satellites, all at a profit to Facebook. There's a reason Mark Zuckerberg is a billionaire, aside from the grossly bloated value of Facebook's stock, the platform is now reaching two billion people worldwide and growing. Zuckerberg's mentor and original investor has sounded an alarm concerning Facebook's behavior and business model, he has been joined by a former Facebook manager and a former Google executive in saying that Facebook needs to clean up it's act. They are not alone, many in Silicon
