Gaffe?

To paraphrase Ronald Reagan, "here I go again." Two days ago Bill Clinton was on the stump and made comments about the Affordable Care Act and the problems in it. His use of "craziest thing" is all the media is talking about and so, of course is Donald Trump, who is the craziest thing to ever come along. I'll get back to the media but let's stay focused. Americans say they want to hear the truth but when it gets said by prominent political figures they either lose their minds or miss the point, largely due to a T.V. media incapable of offering a serious discussion on anything. If you've read a lot of my commentaries you know that I have honestly stated that the Affordable Care Act as it exists has major problems and must be fixed by the next President. Hillary Clinton has also said this but you probably missed it because of poor reporting. My position does not come from an elite penning op-eds from my summer home out of a sense of liberal guilt or genu...

The Clinton Foundation

The Clinton Foundation is the topic of controversy because Hillary Clinton is running for President. It was previously under a cloud of controversy when Hillary Clinton was asked to be Secretary of State. Other than these two situations, the Clinton Foundation was praised by rational people of all political persuasions as a force for good. They certainly all willingly showed up at Clinton Global Initiative events and spoke at them. Before becoming Secretary of State all kinds of disclosures and hoops had to be jumped through by the Clintons, all of which they did. Now a new batch of emails have been released, all of three which show two requests for meet and greets with the Secretary and one from Bono asking if he could broadcast from the International Space Station, which they couldn't help him with. One was the Crown Prince of Bahrain, who could have gotten any call he wished to make to anyone returned. The other was the founder of Slimfast. All three had been donors to the Clin...

Party On

If we believe the polls, and you know I don't, we have the two most unpopular major party Presidential candidates in the history of polling. What are the latest poll numbers on enthusiasm for polls? If these candidates are so unpopular, how is it they beat their opponents? Somebody likes them. The Republicans nominated a Nationalist with fascist tendencies and the Democrats nominated a so called center right lying hawk, in spite of the fact we're constantly told the Democratic Party is all about the far left. If that were true the Democrats would have gone with Bernie Sanders and it wasn't close no matter the spin. The Republicans who are allegedly conservatives have nominated a man who will balloon the national debt to over thirty trillion dollars, start trade wars, destroy valuable foreign alliances and amp up the nuclear arms race. Am I happy with our nominees? Not really and you can't blame me because I'm an independent that actually respects the political pro...

The Truth About Hillary

This is a Kanesrealm exclusive and comes after many years of extensive research, combing over documentation and innuendo only available to all of us. Hillary Rodham Clinton, or H.R.C. if you prefer, was born into a middle class family with a father and mother that loved her. Devout Methodists, they dined on pot roasts and ham, developing a love of all things vanilla. Hillary's dad was a Republican, the good kind, not the dirty kind of today. Young Hillary was a Goldwater Republican Girl, later as she dealt with more and more poor people she would begin to think maybe these people needed more than just prayer and the food nobody else wanted. Against no odds she was able to use her brains to get a good education, at really hoitytoity schools. The smart little girl now became a highly intelligent woman with a deep love of public policy, ick, nobody cares about that. Then she met a pesky rogue named Bill Clinton, eventually they were married. She was a lawyer, a mother and dutiful wi...

No Chicken Littles

As I take up my digital pen to offer meaningless insight into the political season thus far, I pause to reflect on positive versus negative. Alrighty, that's done. The first two days of the Democratic Party Convention are behind us and the difference between it and what we saw from the Republicans last week is stark. As I've said before, these conventions are heavy on boredom, they're supposed to be. But they are also supposed to be positive and occasionally have dynamic speakers that know how to work an audience. The Democrats are delivering on this. Most importantly they are executing a political convention exactly the way it's supposed to be done. It is flowing smoothly and that includes the disenchanted Bernie Sanders voters. There's supposed to be disgruntled delegates sulking over their candidate losing and threatening to sit home or take their vote elsewhere. Comedian and hardcore Sanders supporter Sarah Silverman said it best, you Bernie or bust people ar...

Burning Clinton Group

It's not the latest novelty act to open in Las Vegas, it's the same old Republican game of whack a Clinton. After F.B.I. Director James Comey's email report to the public Republicans are losing their mind, which they can hardly spare, about how the Clintons get away with everything and are held to a different standard, never being held accountable. James Comey will appear before the House Oversight Committee on Thursday where Chairman Jason Chaffetz, who just recently praised the greatness of Comey, will in all likelihood rip Comey apart. Joined of course by his fellow rightwing attack dogs. Attorney General Loretta Lynch will soon take the hot seat. At what point have Bill and Hillary Clinton ever not been held accountable, raked over the coals and exhaustively investigated at great expense to the taxpayer only for those targeting them to come up with nothing? Even Ken Starr, the Independent Counsel, who spent years during Bill Clinton's Presidency investigating him ...

Sanders vs. Trump: The Myth

For months the press and naturally Bernie Sanders have cited polls showing that Sanders would defeat Trump by double digits. I do not believe these polls. Exactly how those polls were conducted and phrased is not known but let's explore some crucial facts. Until he ran for the Democratic nomination Bernie Sanders was not a nationally known figure. He has been a political figure in Vermont for thirty years but he has never faced a national vetting process. In short he has never faced the nasty in depth opposition research that goes in to a Presidential campaign and he still hasn't. Bernie Sanders has spent his entire political career as an Independent and self described democratic socialist. The overwhelming majority of this country has no idea what that is and the only word they hear is socialist and in their minds it's the same as communist and both words are a non starter in the United States. Donald Trump would waste no time in defining Sanders daily as a commie that ...

Hard To Be Bill

It's hard for Bill Clinton to be a surrogate for his wife. He is one of the most gifted politicians of the past one hundred years, when he is speaking for himself. Though Barack Obama has benefited from Clinton's skills at explaining things in terms everyone can understand. Bill Clinton's speech at the 2012 Democratic Convention did more good for Obama than anything the candidate himself said. This past week Bill Clinton was involved in a kerfluffle, don't you just love that word? Sounds like something the cat threw up. At a Hillary event that Bill was speaking at a Black Lives Matter activist decided to begin a shouting dialogue with the former President over the 1990's Crime Bill and Hillary Clinton's then use of the word super-predator when describing certain gang members. Let's stop there and acknowledge that earlier this year at a NAACP event President Bill Clinton said the Crime Bill went too far and needs to be fixed. Hillary Clinton had already apo...

It's Been Heard

Rumors are in the air that President Barack Obama is quietly saying behind the scenes that it's time for Bernie Sanders to get out of the race and support Hillary Clinton. As I write this Sanders just beat Clinton in Alaska and Washington. I have no doubt that these rumors are true, so instead of remaining in the dark I will publicly say to President Obama, it's time for you to shit or get off the pot! Obama has all but come out and formally endorsed Hillary Clinton. He has hinted and insinuated it but even with this simple act he's too cool for school. He may endorse her but only after he's sure there is no way Sanders could pull an upset. He will absolutely campaign for her if she is the nominee because he needs her but no matter what he says, deep down he thinks Bill and Hillary Clinton have an odd odor, something similar to a garlic fart. There are memories of something once enjoyed but now there are unpleasant lingering after effects. Obama's opinions on Sand...

By the Numbers

Winning the Presidential nomination of the two major parties is about the acquisition of delegates. In the Democratic Party this is a fairly complex endeavor and it's deliberately designed to be. The major media is engaged in a daily repetition that Hillary Clinton can't be beat, that Bernie Sanders just doesn't have a path to the nomination. Let's review some facts. As I write this Sanders and Clinton are tied with 51 delegates each. Clinton won Iowa by a mouse fart, Sanders crushed Clinton in New Hampshire and not because he's from Vermont. Clinton just won the Nevada Caucuses. She will in all likelihood win South Carolina especially now that she has the full support of Rep. Jim Clyburn who is an iconic figure in that State. Clinton has done a masterful job of spinning the narrative in the African-American community that Bernie Sanders has not been in their corner and has only recently took interest in their issues, this in spite of the fact that his support for...

America's Dynasties?

Media reports and punditorials (not a real word but it should be) are trying hard to spin the narrative that we have a brewing battle between rival political dynasties. In one corner the Bushes and in the other the Clintons. Our crack editorial team or is it cracked, has consulted with the prestigious word consultants Funk and Wagnell. According to them the analogy is slightly off. In our beloved country we do have some families that seem to have members that are always running for something. They prefer to think of themselves as civic minded individuals following proud family traditions. Speaking of dynasties wouldn't it be exciting if there had been a Presidential battle royal between Blake Carrington and Alexis Carrington-Colby, oh, even better, J.R. Ewing versus Angela Channing. Are these T.V. references too old? Angela Channing was played by Jane Wyman, who was Ronald Reagan's first wife, so by the  transformative laws of celebrity this could have all happened. Now bac...

No Facts No Problem

Peter Schweizer, the author of the upcoming book "Clinton Cash" has now admitted in several interviews that he has no evidence of wrongdoing by Hillary Clinton when she was Secretary of State. But that's what the book is about. It's about insinuating corrupt acts in exchange for contributions to the Clinton Foundation. No proof is provided in the book. It is a narrative of intrigue and innuendo which in publishing terms is also known as a novel. The author claims he has no political agenda and it has been hinted that he may do a similar book about Jeb Bush. So, another novel? Bill Clinton has made a lot of money since leaving office. He is probably the most active former President in our history. That's because of a combination of age, energy, drive and talent. The Clinton Global Initiative and The Clinton Foundation do a lot of good. If someone has credible evidence of wrongdoing that's one thing, but writing a work of fiction and offering it up as truth i...

Never Enough

No matter what Hillary Clinton says about her use of a personal email while Secretary of State will not be enough for her political enemies. They don't care that she broke no laws, they don't care that no Secretary of State used a government email address until John Kerry took office and the law changed. They are happy to call her a liar without saying it. They are not satisfied with the 55,000 pages of e-mails she released to the State Department, the emails which relate to her official duties. You can bet they are boring and uneventful which is why her enemies haven't and won't take the time to read them. Oh no, they will keep asking for nonexistent emails which have nothing to do with her public duties. They will continue to ask for that which they know doesn't matter or exist. The Republican Party is scared to death of Hillary Clinton's impending Presidentail run and this is just the start of their campaign to try and tear her down. They will keep trying, h...
