Clearly Speaking
Let's be clear, in the event my recent post was a little confusing, Bernie Sanders is not a Democrat. He never has been and will only be one, sort of, if he wins the nomination and then the Presidency. He has been a self identified Independent socialist since the beginning of his long political career. He chose to run as Democrat in this election because it was the most viable route without being a spoiler.
The media is reporting daily about heated exchanges escalating between the Sanders and Clinton campaigns. Accusations of negative insinuations and factual distortions. Compared to the Republicans, the Democrats are having a pillow fight.
The fact is Bernie Sanders is a hard as nails seasoned politician. He is not the blessed virgin that some of his supporters may wish to ascribe to him. He will hit his opponent hard and pick at any scab he thinks will be beneficial to his campaign. He does in fact exaggerate the influence of special interest groups on Hillary Clinton. He twists the knife just enough to say he's not saying Secretary Clinton is corrupt but she is part of a corrupt system. That's politics 101 and should be ignored.
Sanders says Clinton owes an apology for saying his campaign is lying about her. No, she doesn't owe an apology. As to the video of her displaying her anger at a Green Peace activist while working a rope Iine, good for Hillary Clinton. She is often criticized for being too reserved and not displaying emotion and then when she does she gets attacked for it. That moment showed genuine human qualities we can all identity with. By the way if Sanders had a dinosaur species classification it would be grumpasorous, cause he can get really snippy, but that's okay.
Hillary Clinton has two and a half million more votes than Bernie Sanders. While he can and will go the distance he will not overtake her in earned delegates. That's why his campaign has now begun to reach out to Super Delegates to try and persuade them to change their support to him. This will not go well for him and the reason is because he has spent his entire career as an Independent, often being critical of the Democratic Party. These Super Delegates, just like the pledged delegates, are Democrats. They live and breathe the party and believe in it. It's not very likely that they would break with Hillary Clinton and support someone who has not been in the trenches with them. While the word socialist is vastly distorted in our public dialogue, make no mistake that many Americans don't think Denmark when they hear socialist, they think corrupt banana republics. That includes many of those Democratic Super Delegates. Sanders will not get enough, if any, of their support.
Hillary Clinton is better prepared to govern as President from day one than is Bernie Sanders. That's an across the board rational assessment. Her broad experience and interest ranging from domestic to foreign policy cannot be denied and I don't believe that Democrats are going to walk away from that.
