Rubio Rides In
The junior Senator from Florida, Marco Rubio, has entered the race to be the Republican Presidential nominee in 2016.
The announcement was a pretty standard event complete with second generation makes good in America. He should be proud of his parents and he should be proud of himself but now he wants to be President. He spoke about his fears that his very young children wouldn't have the America they deserve if things don't change. Ah yes, that whole change thing.
Here's the problem, that thing you worry about your children not having is already the reality. At 43 Senator Rubio already occupies an age group that in real economic terms has not done better than the previous generation. The Senator himself may be doing well but a large percentage of the population is not.
Senator Rubio opposes equal pay for equal work, opposes raising the minimum wage and caved to his conservative colleagues on immigration reform. These are just a few of the things that make you wonder what exactly does he want to do to help everyone's children?
Pay attention Senator I'm about to give you the best, paid or unpaid, piece of advice you will receive. If you want to distinguish yourself from the pack don't worry about attacking Hillary Clinton because she is not your opponent. Lay out a true detailed vision of what you want to do. You said you would repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, you used the O word, but replace it with what? No Republican, party or individual, has provided a replacement idea for the A.C.A. which is a conservative think tank idea. Shouldn't you be jumping for joy at this conservative triumph?
Long days ahead Senator and like all of those running now and others to come, ultimately a fight with your fellow Republicans will occur. The gloves will come off.
Who will be left standing?
